The primary author of MachineWhisperer Tech Articles and the initial vision and drive behind the concept of the MachineWhisperer website as a broad-base knowledge sharing model is Eric Maki. Eric was born to a wonderfully creative mother and a brilliant engineer father who both started him on a path of thinking outside of every box he ever discovered. His ability to see options and alternatives in every physical system has been called a talent and genetic trait that he inherited from both grandfathers who were often referred to as 'mechanical geniuses'. From a very young age, He was taking apart all sorts of equipment, machines, and electronic devices to understand the inner workings and how they might be improved.  All through school, Eric asked too many questions which most of his teachers could not answer.  Therefore he was a frustrated student and his teachers found themselves just as frustrated.  He was an excellent student- except for the homework thing (which added to his teachers frustration), but was always bored with the educational system.  In high school, he worked in small engine repair and maintenance, then later in retail and customer service before finally leaving home in Michigan to move west to Colorado where he has lived since 1997.      In the time from 1997 to the present, Eric has been self employed in a small town of about a thousand people where he has been maintaining or repairing vehicles & small engine or electric powered machines, designing/ fabricating custom built machines, building & designing custom homes, and consulting/ designing alternative energy systems all while living off grid in a self-built solar home with a solar-based power system he built himself.  Eric still lives in Southern Colorado where he loves to bring junk equipment back to functional life and keep himself and the local machines healthy, grow as much of his own food as he can and build or consult on ultra efficient homes with independent power/ heating systems. Life itself is the adventure Eric seeks, he loves to share his knowledge with others as well as searching out and learning from other experts...
